  1. OEM 1ZZ ECM + Parallel MS2

    Engine Management
I’ve completed a build with using just the factory ecu! Take a look at Roadster turbo upgrade. Everything on the management system functions perfectly including reading data through the obd. Any questions feel free to ask..
  2. 1zz Turbo reliability

    Performance Modifications
Indeed you’re right my friend. Just remembering I haven’t spent crazy amounts of money with the mod’s for a surprising increase within safety limits.
  3. CAMSHAFT SENSOR CODE

    Care, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting
The answer to your question is yes the cams do come out in. Sadly there’s a reason the camshaft has broken which will needs to be addressed first. Maybe a seizure on a journal, oil starvation? Sorry there probably won’t be a quick fix😩
  4. 1zz Turbo reliability

    Performance Modifications
Maf sensor 63mm pipe work and height for your reference.
  5. 1zz Turbo reliability

    Performance Modifications
Maf sensor height for your reference.
  6. 1zz Turbo reliability

    Performance Modifications
Around 12 months has passed since the initial build. The addition of the 2 stage boost controller allowed me to steadily increase the boost, now at 9 psi. Still on the stock ecu measuring 12-1 afr. The 1zz still sounds as sweet as ever, the only downside is I had to remove most of it when I...

  8. Hard start when warm

    Care, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting
It won’t be in closed as it requires a valid crankshaft signal, when the engine starts if the o2 sensor is still above 600c then the ecu will see a variation in readings then closed loop is achieved. As the engine has theoretically just been turned off and back on, then the above process would...
  9. Hard start when warm

    Care, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting
Ok if you have a leaking injector which is effectively flooding the engine, get someone to observe if there’s any sign of black smoke from the exhaust when it eventually fires. If not then get your mechanic to check for an injection pulse with the use of a noid light also for a spark. Obviously...
  10. Hard start when warm

    Care, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting
Indeed it’s an excellent idea my friend, I have the same set up with no issues and bags of power on demand 👍

  13. 2zz Swap?

    Performance Modifications
Indeed my 1zz with 8psi packs a punch, this is how Toyota should have made the car in the beginning !
  14. 5 speed manual transmission failure

    MR2 Spyder Main Forum
A follow up to initial question was how much power can this gearbox handle? Well it appears the bearing failure is quite common, it has the same setup in the corolla which is troublesome, so power from the engine wasn’t the cause. I was lucky enough to borrow a workshop manual from Toyota which...
  15. 5 speed manual transmission failure

    MR2 Spyder Main Forum
It was just one bearing, the rest were fine so a cheap repair. All Toyota parts used👌
  16. 5 speed manual transmission failure

    MR2 Spyder Main Forum
Rebuild is complete and ready to refit. Not too tricky to repair with the right tools!
  17. 5 speed manual transmission failure

    MR2 Spyder Main Forum
After removing the transmission, stripped and inspected. The output shaft rear bearing had failed. Apparently it’s a common failure and the part has been superseded on more than one occasion. Any thoughts on the oil for best results?
  18. 5 speed manual transmission failure

    MR2 Spyder Main Forum
From a recent post, some will know the turbo upgrade history. However what kind of power can the transmission normally handle? It appears from nowhere a noise developed, so draining the oil it has fine metallic content like its shot a bearing. Btw only 53k covered!
  19. 2000 Poor Acceleration/Hesitation

    Care, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting
Here’s something worth trying, it’s what runs my turbo setup. Disconnect the blue and white wires from one of the upstream sensors and join to the same wires on the other. The ecu will see identical readings from both, which will give the same bank 1 and 2 fuel trims. Leave the redundant sensor...
  20. 2000 Poor Acceleration/Hesitation

    Care, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting
Indeed, the 2 upstream sensors will affect fuel trims. If you have a voltmeter with the engine hesitating, check the output of each sensor. A range of between 0 which is lean and 100mv rich. This can be achieved by probing across the blue and white wires. A healthy sensor will switch around 3...
