  1. Copilot not seeing AFR?

    Engine Management
I'm using a PLX wideband, and the ground labeled ground on the Datalogit. I checked with a multimeter and wiggling everything around and got a consistent output from the PLX on the AN1 screw, so I don't think it is a bad connection. I'll try a different port next, good idea.
  2. Copilot not seeing AFR?

    Engine Management
I tried this. No idea why it got reset from my previous settings, but it did. I fixed the curve and then the AFR started working just as above. It worked for about 5 minutes (maybe less) and then stopped again. The above fix is still applied after exiting and restarting the program. Ideas?

I did. I'd love to ditch the PFC. Everything is just time and money. The PFC is below the time threshold which allows me to run the car this year. My conclusion was nothing else is :(
  5. How much timing can you run on your boosted, built 1zz block? - Using Apxi PFC

    Engine Management
My VVTi settings are similar to MWR's base map. Higher numbers are more retard, lower numbers are more advance. Max retard at very low load. Max retard at below 2k rpm. Max retard about 5200 rpm. A lot of advance increasing from about 2k to about 4k rpm, then falling off rapidly. If I'm...

Manifold is a china direct T25 version of the one sold by turbokits dot com. Other than not having the brand label, it is the same. I've had zero problems with it, if you don't count issues with studs backing out. It is not braced to the block, and I think it should be. Probably with...

I bought a new replacement PFC, and I plan to get it back on the dyno this summer. I think the answer to that second question is very very personal, and subject to ego getting in the way of the right answer. 11 years ago, 180 whp would have been about right. Now I daily a 435 hp car and I...
  8. How much timing can you run on your boosted, built 1zz block? - Using Apxi PFC

    Engine Management
About 5 years ago I asked basically this same question and got the same response you got. For fear of actual knock, I haven't turned the timing up much. I keep meaning to run an external knock sensor / scope and verify there isn't something else going on. Since it is fairly consistent, and...
  9. Trailer hitch

    Parts and miscellaneous for sale
The furthest from homemade that hitches for this car got was when David Hawkins made a run of them to his own design. OP: free bump, sorry for the thread drift!
  10. Trailer hitch

    Parts and miscellaneous for sale
That doesn't really apply to a trailer hitch for a vehicle not rated for towing. People (myself included) have had success with weights of 500 lb and tongue weights of 70 lb including the hitch, depending on the hitch design. It would be unlikely to design a hitch that won't handle that. The...
  11. wierd power fc probelm

    Engine Management
I second the "it's never the computer" answer, but... There was a shop (DDPR, IIRC) that had a PFC go wonky on ignition timing on the dyno with data logs. I have been having a problem with the PFC where it has been running richer in some cells than it used to, and the affected cells do not...

So not to necessarily resurrect this thread, but I felt like I should give an update for anyone who finds this with the search and wonders how it all turned out. Almost 5 years in, still going strong, still a work in progress. Well, I guess to be a work in progress, I'd have to work on it...
  14. Anyone track their Spyder in the snow?

    Autocross, Racing, and Motorsports
If it weren't for the salt exposure I'd have to endure, I'd run winter events in the spyder as often as possible. The skill set required to drive it fast on slippery conditions is unique to mid engine more so than in dry conditions. Everything is exaggerated, which makes for awesome practice...
  15. Any Interest in EA60 gearboxes? (2GR swappers only)

    Parts and miscellaneous for sale
I'm not in a position to move forward with such a project, but I've considered it carefully and I think the standard diesel box is perfect for a street/autocross spyder. Good autocross ratios, decent street ratios, tall top gear for fuel economy and nvh. Probably handle the torque from a built...

This still interests me. I'd like to do a more supportive seat if it didn't compromise height and sliding. As I stated it, I'm probably wrong, but you guys take a narrower seat and are shorter than me. The wider the seat pan the harder it is to fit the sliders and keep it low, and the taller...

But you were comparing them to a 225 Rival S, and found them to look to be almost as fast by the numbers, right? If they are wider and just as fast, that suggests a slower compound. Alternate response: So what you are saying is that they suck, so you should sell me two of them :D (I bought...

I've gotten this question from a few people over the years. I'm going to take a shot at answering it here. I'm hoping someone who did this more recently will chime in with their thoughts and some photos. The photos I took are long gone. Why foamectomy?: 1.) I am too tall for a helmet...
