I hadn't seen it. Looks purdy 'cept for those white things coming off the back of the roof.

Headlight's too thin. But I'm sure they'll work that out. It definitely doesn't look like a 40k car. It looks like a 100k car. That's good.

Kind of looks like what I'd imagine the Fiero to look like if it were to be reborn.

It's part of their 5 step process to reinvent themselves and the Elise looks like a 100k car because this is the new Esprit:

The new Elan:

The new Elite:

And the new Eterne:

Personally, I'm a fan of the way that it looks, but I'd rather have a current Elise or Exige because the new one is projected to be 2400+ pounds rather than the current 2000 pounds.

However, if there's any company that can make a car handle...

I just realized how laughably small the mirrors are on all the new lotuses. I'm pretty sure my Ninja had bigger ones...

Mateo, get in here. We haven't had an argument about Lotus in a while.

My soul is hurting looking at these pictures.

Hahaha:lol: I'm not over-the-moon with the styling either... I'm on the fence still--reserving judegement until more information... I understand that a multitude of factors (safety requirements, Americans demanding more features, Americans demanding more luxury, Americans demanding more power, Lotus dumbing down the chassis for longevity and profitability) will bring a weight increase--but how much can the market tolerate? I am also concerned about this car no longer being a Lotus. I am pretty sure at this point that the company we know and love is done--the question is how good will the new mainstream Lotus be?

I have seriously considered buying a 2005-2008 Elise. Right now I have one more car than I really have room for--and I really would hate to sell my Spyder. At some point I will probably bite the bullet and buy a Lotus, and I have no doubt it will not be the one in the photos above.

Sorry, I can't argue this one with you:) I really WANT to like this car--but it is kind of hard...

Damn.... back to Skyrim then.

Oh, is anyone else bothered that 3 cars in the lineup look indistinguishable? And THAT is from the viewpoint of an enthusiast. Imagine what your average Joe will think driving past the Lotus dealership.

"Why do they make only one car?"

Even worse, these cars stink of committee design me-too-ism. It used to be you could drive a lotus (any of them, pick one) somewhere and there was no mistaking it for something else. Now it looks like a LamboFerrTeslaNSX

I think it's a great look and they will probably be great cars.

But I don't think they're Lotuses in Colin Chapman's vein.
