89666-20060 is the one you want, it was the only ECU used with the 2ZZ in JDM Celicas. It has the high rev limit/low lift cut in just like the early USDM ECUs, as well as single wire knock sensor and cable throttle. It also does not have an immobilizer, not sure about the vapor pressure control to be honest.

89666-12260 is a 2zz Corolla ECU, it will not work in a MR2.

i been googling my ass off and didn`t find any sure answer. someone on ebay sold a 12260 as a celica ecu ......lucky i didn`t buy that ecu.
i`m pretty sure usdm is the only market with vapor pressure system. well back to try to find a jdm then

 

I had a US Ecu in my car, and I had the same issue as you, lived with it for 2 years, annoyed me at first to have the engine light on, but then you get over it.. It does not affect the car in any way else.

I chose to keep it, because it was OBD compliant, not for inspection or emissions, but for being able to pull codes with a normal plug in reader, this function will not be posible with the Jspec ECU, unless you have a special ( expensive reader) and will make fualt finding and trouble shooting much harder.

 

I had cel for 1,5 year now, but keeps annoying me. When i have the yearly inspection it will fail due to check engine light,i have e switch to cel so it turns off when oil pressure comes. I seen some cheap obd reader that reads jobd, not confirmed by me yet. Seen some threads about program elm327 so it works with jobd.
I have access to toyota it1 it2 and techstream via my job but not sure if any off them works with jdm.

yep jdm ecu have speed limit cut but i never go that fast anyway so doesent matter for me.
