Recently had a 2ZZ swapped in. I noticed there is a small amount of oil leaking on the engine though. I was advised this is normal and often comes from the factory like this? (Kind of doubt that)
Is this something to be concerned over? My pictures kind of suck, but you can see some residue and a small pooling near the bottom.
Not normal for any engine to leak oil from the factory that is ridiculous. The timing chain cover, valve cover and front/rear main seals should have been done before the engine was put in. This looks like either valve cover or timing chain cover leak.
That looks about like what my engine looked like over the last month. I had my uncle (mechanic) look at it and we replaced the timing gasket and valve cover gasket, while it was off though we did all the timing internals and water pump. You're probably looking at doing the same, valve cover gasket, timing gasket. If you want to do everything else while the face is off its more efficient and cost effective to do it then rather than later
