That is sweet sounding with ripper performance esp that first take you tearing away like a bat out of hell!

If you dont mind I will keep this thread going with the help of anyone who knows vw/audis etc to help
others who are interested in this swap or something similar.

My buddy (engine with a foot in the grave) and I are looking at the 1.8 TT transmission atm which seems
to withstand 700hp vr6 turbo in a time attack audi tt. I would be happy with a 5 speed with a stock vr6 and
some decent headers. There is the adapter to suit the 1.8tt boxes which are cheap
https://store.034motorsport.com/adapter-plate-vr6-to-audi-quattro-trans.html

220usd for a 2001 audi TT 1.8L 5 speed (but problem is maybe no LSD from factory)
suits 016 / 01A / 01E Audi transmissions

higher hp billet camshafts are a very reasonable compared to custom made ones

Sure! Would love to see more people swaping the VR6!

Not sure if this adapter works its for 016/01A/01E transmissions witch are not for traverse engine position.

Also not sure about the 1.8 transmisions I would stick with the 02M.

Is it possible you can guide me to what model the 02M 6 speed is from?
or can I use a 5 speed from a 1.8TT or similar? an LSD would be preferred
and not looking for anything more than normally aspirated factory power.
You need an VR6 02M as the 1.8t had wrong engine angle. Not sure what model mine is from i have to look that up but its an 4 motion 6 speed 02M. I converted it to 2wd by using an 2wd quaife differential.

Also the engine was from what model car?
Did you use a factory flywheel or a lightened one?
How much did the custom shafts cost and would there be a chance
I could use the measurements or should I start again by cut and shutting
the shafts I use with a 5 speed?
Engine is from Volkswagen Golf mk5 engine code BUB
I used factory dual mass flywheel en clutch for easy drivability.
I'm sorry but i cant help you with the shafts. A friend of mine made them as an exception for me. And i don't have measurements i just welded the Volkswagen and Toyota shafts in one shaft en gave them to my friend.

Some data for everyone:
VR6 manual transmissions in 2wd format are the:
02M 6 speed -- code FSR FML FZQ FZR
02A 5spd -- codes CCM CHN CDM CAW CRU?
02J 5spd -- codes DZC EHC EGF EWW FBY FCF
gear ratios can be found here http://www.zelek.com/diagram_charts/diagramlist.htm

For wiring stuff, head over to the VWVortex, and look at the transplants of VR6 into MK1/2 chassis, as they are figuring out how to make them twitch correctly.

Things are looking easier now for the best v6 ever made
I removed the 3.7 and 3.8 first gear transmissions off the list
as no one wants those stump pulling gears on lightweight spyders

I still have to check but if i remember right i have a long geared gearbox. You have to take into account the soyder wheels are smaller than the golf wheels.

Yes everything works. I still use the toyota ecu for temp gauge and some other stuff. VEMS controls the tach en mil light.

Forgot to ask in the awe of the project as it was progressing
if that big piece of alloy billet with a hole to miss the right side
output shaft on the box is to support the mounting bracket?

My last car was a Jetta gli VR6. It was sitting for years before I bought it and I spent more time working on it than driving it. Part of the problem was the shit luck I had with o reilleys alternators. 3 bad in a row. I had to pull the motor for the water pump then again for the alternator. The car was a nightmare for clearances.

I’ve had great luck with the 1.8t and I really like mk4 VWs. After my VR6 I’m finished with the VR6. Parts in America are high and you’ve got to order parts and wait. I didn’t have the same issues with the 1.8t and tuning possibilities with the 1.8t were all over the place. This was a great read and I’m glad to see you get this done with the r32.

The video with sound was very appreciated. That wooky noise is the best exhaust sound ever.

SAME had on 01 VR6 wagon which my wife and I loved but around 130k it was just hit after hit on shit breaking. Ended up having to dump it.

I do love this swap. The VR6 is music to my ears.

Hello!

I'm Roy from Holland and bought a MR2. I really love this car only the engine is not that special so i'm thinking of swapping it. The v6 swap is nice but i want something with a nice sound. A V10 would be very nice of course but maybe a little to extreme and heavy. :biggrin-new: Did lots of research and the engine i want to use for my swap is a VW R32 engine. The 3.2 VR6 has a perfect sound and is a very compact engine. That engine and a VW 6 speed LSD gearbox would make this a perfect car in my eyes. What do you guys think? Anyone did this before? Didn't see anything on the internet.
im new here

Bumping this from the dead. Any update would be great on this car. I know it's been quiet for years here, but I was watching this thread as he built it. Would love to know how the car is doing.

I am interested as I own a 2004 Golf R32 and my brother and I are building a Mkii golf 12v VR6 and have another VR6 engine that needs something to be swapped in to. I live the mid rear idea......

Cheers

Wanna change the wheels before Spring hits, i'll post some pics when done
