I have seen results on the 1zz motor about 6 months after I bought my car. As I was doing the flush part of the treatment I noticed the car would sound a little off. After the flush cycle was competed the car ran great and did not consume any oil. One may say this was psychological and even though I did not see under the valve cover the way you know it's working is by looking at the end of the dipstick. My dipstick was etched with varnish and after the cleaning it was sparkling clean.
I did not use the Autorx with my 2zz because the valve train was already clean with no traces of varnish so using a high quality synthetic would be more then enough to maintain and clean any little deposits on the ring packs. When I removed my oil pain all of the metal had zero varnish and deposits unlike many of the other cars i have seen.
Having varnish on the metal is normal for an engine however having it spotless is ideal.
