Is this possible? I want to use my iPod in the car, because the CD player skips too much, and it will only get worse when I install the coil-overs. Do audio shops sell some sort of conversion box that's plug-and-play? Thanks!

Thanks for the link, MR. That' exactly what I was looking for. I'm sorry it doesn't work for you. I bet Crutchfield might have something along these lines too.

Update: Crutchfield has a couple of converters in the $160-$170 range that allow you to cycle up and down through the iPod's tracks with the stock stereo's Seek and Tune buttons. The song information, etc. won't be displayed on the head unit, and the track numbers won't correspond to your playlist, but at least you can skip songs.

Like the other device earlier in the thread, it plugs into the CD changer slot in the back of the head unit.

yea i got this from crutchfield ($70 + shipping) and it works great! unfortunately they do not sell it anymore but you might be able to find it elsewhere. i was able to plug it into the back of my stock 2001 Spyder head unit (without removal!), and it gives me 2 sets of RCA outs; 1 for an 1/8" mini and 1 for a regular iPod adapter.

however, all controls (besides no fixed volume - you have to crank up the volume on your iPod and then use the volume control on your head unit) are done through the iPod, NOT the head unit.

Why not just use an FM Transmitter and get done with it? Its one of those things that transmit your audio over FM waves so that your stock radio can receive and play it.

I know, it might affect the sound quality a *little* bit, but I think the low cost and portability it offers far outweighs the drawback.
