Some more slow progress, muffler is fully welded. Sounds quiet compared to my "seasoned" TTE set up at least around the neighborhood, not got into the throttle yet

Simple crash bar structure fabricated to hold tips, bumper lower support, cat pipe hanger, upper heat shield (needs to be welded, today?)

Need to get the hangers welded today before I can get aggressive with the throttle just some temp wire supports holding it now

License plate will be fitted to either a tow hook style holder or a OEM style ABS plate holder trimmed to suit the curve of the lower section of the bumper.

Made up a full width mesh grille and mock up exhaust trim ring (cardboard) to see what it will look like - I like it...just need to figure out how to install it neatly

looks amazing!!

Thank you, should be some more progress soon.

Sounds pretty good now I've been able to get some revs on it, little boomy at low load (im picky!) but great at wide open but a little hard to hear over the 2zz 8000rpm CAI noise!!. Might need to consider a resonator J tube, think Ill drive for a bit before deciding.

Thanks, yep i don't much care for it either on the side or underneath but hey ho. I think I can make it look half decent offset to one side with the new grille insert I'm working on. I've had some fun along the way, taught myself some new skills and that's what these cars are all about right?

Absolutely .... you need to get a personalized plate with two big O"s in the center to come through .

No sound clips yet, been too busy driving!! To me it sounds very nice but a little loud around town. The CAI on the 2zz is still the dominant noise from the drivers seat at WOT on the big cam.

Found the mesh on eBay, $40 shipped from Korea... not sure how it will hold up to heat yet.

i started the mesh bezel/surround. Made a wooden template then transferred to some aluminum. Hand cut the outer and inner with a jigsaw. Not perfect but once painted black will look ok from 4ft away.

number plate will be repositioned once the mesh is final installed...

last shot shows experiment with JB welding studs to the aluminum. Looks like it will work. Will add the 1/4“ studs around the back of the trim bezel to allow pieces of 1/2“ aluminum angle to be added sandwiching the mesh and giving me somewhere to attach the mesh to the bumper return flange...
