I started getting the ear problem , I searched spyderchat for a solution but I saw something about buying a kit?! :?
So I tried to fix it and I've found it it was just the belt under the (sort of tent on the inside from the roof ) that unclipped I clipped it again and everything is ok now!!
Such a simple solution!

At each end of the strap, you have a "Button" and a "clip" that the button pops onto. The strap is guided around the bar, then you would normally pop the button back onto the corresponding clip. My button was chewed up (probably by getting crushed by lowering the top while it was up-clipped), so it would not fasten to the clip. All I did was to drill a hole through the button, 1/8" round, then put the button back onto the clip (having first guided it around the bar) then I pop-riveted the assembly together - in it's brand new state, the button would hold firm, but, as the button is chewed, it needs something extra to hold it together, hence the pop-rivet.

Hope the above makes sense
thanks that does help... but my biggest problem is that the fabric that the button is attached to it almost totally ripped off the top, so ill have to break out the sewing kit if i want to fix that issue!

Take it to an upholster. They can replace the snaps in a few minutes for a few bucks.

I cant find the strap within the "tunnel", i have the two button straps on either side, but the strap that goes across the center I cant find for the life of me, is it something that can fall out or is it sewn in there? Ive reached as far into the tunnel as I can but apart from a small string with a spring thingy on the end I cant feel anything else in there.

mine was not sewn in, most of it was bunched up on one side and i ended up just pulling it all the way out once i noticed that one of my buttons was broken. It probably fell out somewhere, but it would be a pretty easy thing to replace. Its just a (nylon?) strap with a button on either end. I can give you the exact length if you plan on getting a new one made.

Id love if you could get that for me, I just called the previous owner of it and he hadent a clue what I was talking about, so chances are its been long missing. I soupose it would be a simple thing to make, probibly finding the buttons the right size would be the only problem... huzzah for trips to the craft store!

It is almost exactly 38", maybe a 1/4" over. The size of the part of the button (male part) that is inserted to your existing female button is 3/8" with 1 sq in of male velcro surrounding it. Hope that helps.

Just a side note on this. I finally put my strap through the tunnel within the tunnel. Not only did it slide all the way to the other side just fine, but the top works much better now. It actually pulls the ears in. I had the unsnagable wing kit, but the glue wore off on the velcro. I may sew the velcrow to the strap so that there is no longer a problem with that and see how that does. But all in all, my top is working better now.

I recomment using a flash light and finding that inner tunnel thing. It is definitely how it should be set up.
