I just received my crash bar. I was expecting it Monday but it was here sooner than expected.

I'm happy I went with the powder coat option because it looks as good if not better then any aftermarket part from Japan where quality is high.
The welds are nicely done.
I weighed it on the scale and it was exactly 13lbs.

For a part that is made to be hidden, it's a thing of beauty.

Glad your happy !!

I have to agree on the PC . At first I thought it sounded kinda pricey but after I seen that they sandblast to prep them and to see the final product I'd say it's worth the cost .

I weighed it at 12.7 lbs. bare so the PC and the hardware must weigh .3 lbs.

$40 for the PC is a hell of a deal with the amount of prep work that must have gone into it.
I will try and get a good picture of it before it's installed.

Got mine today way earlier than I was expecting. Holy shit dis be a awesome piece you'll never see on my MR2 because it's all black. LOL. Great job, luv the PC too! Thanks!

Before and after install pics would be nice Dev.
Will do. I will pull out the big boy camera.

Just in case anyone wanted to know, the torque specification for the rear bumper it's only 14 ft lbs.
I was expecting it to be a lot more than this, go figure. Good and tight should suffice but since I have my super expensive digital torque wrench it gives me an excuse to use it.

I started the install and forgot to take a before so here it is.

As you can see the stock crash bar never made sense with the rear grill. the second and third pics show the new crash bar as it was being installed.

The install was easy and everything fit with a tighter tolerance than the original crash bar. I just had to zip tie the license bulb harness on top of the bar where it will not be seen and that's about it.

The license plate bracket is much better than stock and will finally prevent any rattling which happens when you have stiff engine mounts. Not that it matters and it shouldn't for a part like this but I have to say for a community built part which usually has few expected quirks this crash bar was built with a high degree of quality.

It was getting too dark by the time I had everything back together so I will have a finished picture this weekend. From what I can see the bar disappears completely and all of the interesting goodness is peeking though just like I envisioned. It looks so good that I decided not to run the exhaust through the bumper because it will be too disruptive and less elegant. The best solution is to get a new muffler that is brightly polished including the pipes and top it off with some real chrome tips. Having the old crash bar disappear adds a lot more definition to the rear end.

No problem and thanks again for supporting the community with a nice part, it was worth the wait. I will try and get finished pictures that are not garage pics.

Bar is installed what do you do about the downpipe hanger?
I left mine there temporarily to see if the downpipe mounting point would touch the bar. I still haven't had time to drive my car to find out but it didn't seem to come close to interfering but I might just cut it off with my hackzall anyway.

Isn't that what that little bracket is for on the new bar? Factory has like a j hook to mount the hanger in that spot

I believe what you're referring to is a metal tab to mount the bumper facia using a plastic fastener.
I was worried about not having a mounting location for the downpipe like the OEM but I was reassured by other members a few pages back but it wasn't necessary for support.

Take a look at my pictures above, You can see that the rubber mount is sitting on the downpipe unattach
