Maybe it's a USDM vs euro thing? Mine has it you just stick the key in and turn. Plus the front passenger seat has child seat anchors.

Kind of in the crook of the seat plus a tether anchor under a cover above the storage cubbies. Might be a model year thing, mine is a 2005 and I recall after a certain M/Y all cars had to have the LATCH anchors in at least one seat.

My 03 USDM model has the anchor points and air bag switch.

It depends on the market. Per example UK and EU models do not have it fitted.
Most JDM cars don´t have one either; no standard passenger airbag hence the optional passenger dash top cubby

If the US cars all have one, then that would be a good source for those markets that do not.
