I have a 2000 MR2 Spyder that is in need of struts and was told recently that it also needs mounts.
After having a second opinion on the struts they say it also needs strut mounts and claim it will cost aprx $2000. Does this sound accurate? I am in Phoenix, AZ.
Thanks

How much for parts, how much for labor? 2k seems kinda high for a strut and mount job. A full tein kit costs 1.5k, oem should be under half the cost of that.

$2000 is very high for just struts and mounts. Like Oldman said, you can order the struts for a little over $100 a piece from 1stoyotaparts.com, it includes the upper mounts. Labor should be 4-6 hours and an alignment after it's all finished. You should be looking at 1100-1200 total for parts and labor.

Do you want to go back with stock, or do you want better handling at the expense of ride comfort? How mechanically inclined are you?

Replacing the struts isn't that hard on the spyder if you have basic mechanical knowledge, the hard parts are switching out the springs, and the rear sway bar.

Struts are available for ~$100 per corner, but the installation is labor-intensive (time), and necessitates an alignment. Most of the cost is going to depend upon the labor rate in your area.
