Got a letter in the mail yesterday from my local Mr T. (bout 45 min. away). Seems as though they are getting a very high request for the 2 and they need 7 on the lot to sell. They offered me the "black book" value or maybe more when I brought it in for a look see. Book value is a little over $8000.00. Anywho, they are pretty much beggin' for the car around here. Thought it was funny and no way my baby is going for that low ball offer. ;)

There is a Super White 2000 Spyder for sale at a Nissan car lot a couple miles from my home. It has 49K miles on it and the asking price is $14,400. When I drove in with my CTS and took a look at it, the salesman told me that the high price on a 11 year old car was because "they are extremely rare" and "will soon be high demand collector cars".

I just smiled!

I get those letters for every car I own. My hypothesis:

1. Get you into the dealership
2. Low-ball you on the price - ka ching!
3. Now you need another car
4. Sell you new car at a profit - ka ching!
5. Finance your car, through them - ka ching!
6. Sell your old car at huge markup - ka ching!

Seems like there's a pattern that develops during the process, no?
