A friend of mine sent this to me a few days ago and after reading it, I thought some might find it helpful when modifying their stock header/exhaust to prevent pre-cat failure. Personally, I found this to be a great article. I'm only a weekend wrencher and not a proper mechanic, so others like myself might enjoy this read just the same.

Interesting reading. I like how they laugh at the old hot rodders adage that you gotta have some back pressure...and then explain that...you gotta have some back pressure to keep velocity high. I guess the hotrodders were right after all.

Not sure where you see that in the article. They want low back pressure and high velocity, and that is achieved by using the correct pipe diameter for the volume of exhaust exiting.
