I preface my post by saying that we own a number of Kia’s (niro and two souls) remarkable cars if you ask me. I am taken aback at how terrible Kia was when it first came out and all of the trash posts made regarding them on this very board from yesteryear. Hyundai also and this was pre merger and post merger. Now the internets will tells you that these cars are generally trouble prone and never buy one but I think that is so short sighted. Clearly Honda and Toyota make great cars but have a few that slip through the cracks. Kia/Hyundai have persevered , learned and I feel make fabulous cars our niro gets 50mpg is robustly into the 160k range and other than replacement bulbs (that both went out at the same time -in the dark no less) and a broken wheel (not the wheels fault) it has been flawless in its performance over 3/4 of the US. Lux features are generously bestowed and they stand behind their cars far better than most brands. Every car has it’s Achilles heel (Pre Cats, subbie head gaskets, Mini damper pulley gaskets and the rest of the Fing engine). Perfect is the enemy of the good. That is why i chuckle when folks say the spyder is underpowered, or this or that. It is easy to point out flaws I say drive the car you got according to why you got it in the first place. They are fine grocery getters and should be considered when you need one.
