90k on a 2001, I am a bit hesitant about this car. Planning on visiting for a test drive and checking the car with a 3rd party. 90k miles on a 2001 has me a bit worried.

This seems to be my best option. The price range is a little more than I wanted but it's affordable.

Many more options are available to be in the Los Angeles area, but thats 300+ miles away from where I live. I'm a new member and been saving for about half a year. I'm patient and no rush to buy this car now.

90K miles might be OK, but that's the time where a lot of things should be done. People can debate this, but in my mind that's time for new coolant, brake fluid, water pump, oil pump, some sensors, struts...on and on. So make sure that stuff has been done (documented service records). If not, I'd have them drop the price $1500.

The second car is a much better choice....assuming all of the normal stuff checks out. Heck...I'd like that second one.

From my experience, most dealers mark up the price therefore craigslist is your friend or SC for sale threads.

If you really want to score a deal, then you have to look around even in LA and in So.Cal. in general.
I picked up mine in LA! Like I drove from SF to LA and then drove back to SF on the same day.

I ll keep an eye for you as I always look for a deal.

Good luck
Rasheed

Edit: The yellow spyder is so CLEAN!

This was my exact thought when comparing prices near the bay area to the ones in SoCal. It could be done, just need to be a bit more thorough (requesting pics of EVERYTHING, service records, 3rd party help) over the phone and online.

I've found a few sales here and there around California. Just waiting patiently with an ear to the ground. Just hope I am not being too patient <_<

Thanks for the help.

I'm interested in selling my car only because I want to buy Marco's V6 swap.

I've got a 2005, so it has the 03+ visual upgrades and 04+ crash worthiness updates, not to mention it has the coveted LSD, from the factory. I'm closing in on 100k on the car, but I can tell you the last 60k miles of the car's history (garage kept, absolutely babied this thing - RARELY go past 4k RPMs, but I do have a video going to redline), and Joe Schmoe can give you the history prior to that.

Just passed smog this month, so you don't even have to worry about smog for 2 years.

Most of the history is on my website, but it's a little outdated. Stuff I've done is under "Sticky: Spyder Maintenance List" - and stuff when I bought the car from Joe Schmoe is under "Out With the Old, In With the New"

If you're looking for something closer to stock, then that's a good thing because I'd rather keep the aftermarket upgrades. I can even keep the hardtop and put in a soft top for you (after I buy Marco's car).

Let me know if you're interested and we can work something out.

Pictures (if I haven't written about it on my sites, I should at least have pics of what I've done to the car here):

low mileage, 03, manual and it is a really nice color? The wheels have to go though!
Unfortunately, I don't yet have $7500 yet in the bank. That's why I've been looking at dealer pricing. Also, my bank won't do an auto loan for a used car that's older than 7 years from a private party.

I've been looking for one also. Someone also started a thread about it in the for sale section. Good luck up in nor cal. Seems I have been looking for an MK3 on the wrong site. I've been on mr2.com for my mk2 lots of good stuff there for it.

Welp, it all depends on whether or not someone else snatches it up before I sell my car. I've been trying to get a family member to buy my car, that way I can swap all of my mods over to Marco's car later. I didn't want to publicly post my car for sale unless Marco is willing to hold his car for me. We'll see when I hear back from him.

OP, just take your time, and be sure to get the car you want. It's a large purchase that you're going to have for years.

Take your time; evaluate each car methodically. If any car makes you worried, pass on it. If anyone tries to make you feel like you need to buy TODAY, pass on it. There will ALWAYS be another one for sale.

Lol to thread jack this new members first thread haha... Back to topic.

Advice, wait for the right one. Meaning set some perameters that you would like for your new MR2. They can be realistic or the perfect scenario and see what you find or what fits closest to that.

Year:
Colors:
Price:
Mileage:
Mods:
Condition of: seats, top, interior, exterior, etc.

What's acceptable to you?

I'm in the same boat.
