Hello,
I have a 2zz swapped 2003 Spyder that is using a US 2000 Celica GTS ECU. All monitors are set, no check engine light or pending codes. I recently tried to get a new inspection sticker (New York) and could not pass. The inspection machine stated “Data from vehicle was not as expected. This inspection will be flagged for review.” So the inspection was not continued after the second attempt.
The stock ECU and the Celica ECU are both too old (pre 2005) to have a vin attached to them. So I am confused as to why it wasn’t able to pass.
I am desperately seeking advice as to how other New York 2zz swap owners have gotten their MR2’s to pass the obd2 inspection.
Update: connected to ECU with TIS and there is an option to input a VIN to the ECU. I wonder if inputting my Spyder’s vin to the celica ECU could make any difference.
