600 WHP Red 1MZ-FE Mk II.

I met a guy named Jeff today in the Home Depot parking lot. He had his head in the engine bay of his Red Mk II putting on a new vacuum hose when I drove up. His car had the wildest set up I've heard of, a 1MZ-FE with a TRD supercharger AND a custom built turbo charger on the same motor! He told me that when he had it Dyno'd it pulled 600 HP at the wheels!! I told him about the plans for a July MR2 get together in Austin and to look in the MR2OC forum for details. He said he would check it out and maybe join us. Has anyone on hear ever heard of putting a super charger and a turbo charger on the same engine before?

It's called twincharge. I did that with my MK1 a few years ago. There are different ways to route the FI. That 1MZ must have a nice flat torque curve from start to finish.

The Lancia Delta S4 pioneered the twin charged setup in the mid 80's.

Today Volkswagen uses twin charging in its 1.4 liter TSI golfs. It's a pretty slick setup.

Believe this guy had a lotus set up that way. was making 700 ponies before he crashed it about a month ago.

I always thought it was called Compound Charged. Technically you could do it with my s/c setup because you just add a turbo onto it (sits same place as stock intake) and then the supercharger spools the turbo.

I should have taken a photo of his set up while I was talking to him. I was also surprized at how much more room there is in the engine bay than our Spyders.
Even with the V6, and the intercooler.
