Did a charity road rally with about 20 other cars, the coolest was a Fisker, head turner, mine as no on new what it was. We had to travel from a large mall, through a village, countryside, through a small city, back to the countryside with a freakin' police escort. Two cop cars. Stopped all traffic so we could go through all red lights and such. I must say I was impressed. I've traveled lights and sirens many times while driving a ambulance but never with a police escort!

After we go to the other side of the city we all waved good bye and blasted down a country road to a summer camp for kids with severe medical problems. We let the kids tour the cars, mine, Porsches, Vetts, Mustangs, and some older cars.

I'm going to do it again next year. The police escort was the best part!

I've driven my Spyder in at least four funeral processions with police escort.

It's not something I want to do again next year.

It looks like it happen again in March and they got their asses handed to them.

A few years ago I meet an active Corvette member/organizer and aparently with their connections they got the troopers to shut down the garden state freeway so who ever wanted could top out.

They do this every year. The road rally is for Camp Good Days and Special Times. I can't see anyone bitching about it. Google it and you will see what they do. Will do it next year.

OBTW, it would be nice to get other Spyder owners

On a side note I have my 27 year old daughter getting married Labor day weekend. She has been a bridezilla, dragging her two older sisters and mother into it. It's been a living nightmare for all involved. So while eating lunch there, I noticed kids with no hair, (chemo ), physical deformities, missing limbs, walk aids, and wheel chairs. It brought tears to my eyes seeing what these heroic kids have to contend with each and every day, and my adult daughters can't even get along with the pending wedding.

There were only 20 cars equalling $500. I'd love to see 100 cars. That would get some real attention!

The police escort situation may be different if people are obeying the speed limit, or somewhere within the ballpark of it

Agreed however it begs the question of why you need a police escort.
I think it is a waste of resources and the tax payer has to pay for it. It also inconveniences other people that need to use the road.
I don't care if it is for a good cause, because an escort is not going to make any difference.

Thought of that too, but it was the normal road patrol guys. No one extra. And it didn't take more than a minute for the 20 of us to clear through the intersection.
