Hey guys, I purchased this car thinking I was going to shoot for a 2zz replacement off the bat.. That kind of scared the Wife with cost involved so I'm trying to nurse my shot engine back to health . I uploaded a clip of turning the car over, from what I hear the rods are shot. I read about someone replacing the rod bearings but can't find that thread again. Anyone want to tell me what they think just based off the sound clip?

Crank inspection is the only way to tell..
If it's been driven at all with any real knocking.. it's toast.

This. Depending on how long it had been knocking it MIGHT be saveable but if you don't know how to tear down an engine, replaces bearings and all that jazz it could get pricey paying someone to do that and you'd probably be better off finding just bare longblock to swap in and get back on the road
