Sorry for your loss, Deb. To make sure I'm understanding it correctly, here's the basic info:

2005 Spyder in Paradise Blue with SMT and 20k miles. Well optioned and comes with a few quality extras.

It sounds like a very nice car. $18,000 seems ambitious especially given the polarizing nature of the SMT transmission, but hopefully this is the perfect combination for someone and they get you the money you need.

It would also be helpful to provide condition of the larger wear items tires and brakes. Tires are especially important because they're likely past or coming to the end of their life cycle due to age if they haven't been replaced during your ownership, and getting OEM sized replacements is near impossible now.

Best of luck with the sale!

Tires have a shelf life of around 7 years or so. 15 year old tires are going to be rock hard, probably with cracks and are quite frankly dangerous as a result.

That price feels much more reasonable. If it had a manual transmission and new tires, I could see it selling for $14k or close to it pretty easily. You might be hard pressed to get that much with an SMT and original tires (like others have said, 15 year old tires can't be safe), as the SMT transmission is known for having issues and being very difficult to fix if things go wrong. Also, the aftermarket extras don't add any resale value, but are nice to have and could be sold separately for more money if you need to maximize value.

Looks like a great Spyder for the right buyer!

I'm not so sure about that after looking through BAT sales and recently looking around. It might be priced at what people want or what people would like to pay but it is still clearly above market, which is OK...just waiting for the right buyer who has to have it. It's not that much of a splurge at that price except for a young kid.

I'm not doubting your asking price or how nice your car is, it looks like an outstanding example. The market, if you can call it that, for these cars is very thin and is now competing with many other fine 15 year old sports cars at these price points. I'm just saying that it is anyone's scientific wild-ass guess what a car like this is worth and will bring brcause there isn't a pool of ready buyers waiting to snap it up when their price point comes along. I'm also caught in the same situation as you with my car and I can share my experiences with you if that is of any help.

I think the benefits of your car versus that other Paradise Blue are probably worth $2000-2500. However, you can't reliably set a market value for a car based on one sale of a similar example.

Given that it's an SMT and recent sales on eBay and Bring a Trailer, I'd be shocked (and happy for you!) if it sells for more than $12.5. While yours is incredibly nice, there seems to be a relatively low ceiling on these cars (at least for now) and the market of buyers for them is small compared to other options.

Ask yourself this, have you had any SERIOUS enquiries about the car?
If the answer is no, your asking price is too high.

Low mileage on older cars is not necessarily a good thing. A low mileage older car will generally have parts on it that need replacing simply due to age, which higher mileage cars will have had done as part of an ongoing maintenance regime.

Prices for these cars in the states are far higher than in the UK, but as has been pointed out, you are asking way too much.
