Timken has been in business for a long time (100 years) and make a quality product. Have used them quite a bit and cannot say I have ever had a bearing related failure.

As good as OEM? at least equal in quality IMO.

Timken has been a major supplier of bearings in the USA for a very long time. Bearings are the sort of product that aren't discussed unless they fail. I've never heard any complaints about Timken's products, which indicates they're good.
Better than OEM? In many cases, they *ARE* OEM.

I have no idea about Timken bearings sold in South Africa.
Maybe they're the same as those sold in the US. Maybe not.
I would guess that they are. The WORLD headquarters of Timken is about two miles from my house in North Canton Ohio. They sell their products world wide and are known for high quality bearings for almost any automotive or machine usage.

Geez I sound like a commercial for them. No, I do not work for them nor am I in any way affiliated with Timken Bearing.
