What are the best MR2 seat covers? Also need new carpet and material for doors.

Hi, I just bought a Silver 2002 that has a red interior that's stained and it kind of smells like the previous owner used it as a dog kennel! I would like to recover the seats with black leather, leatherette, or a nice material depending on cost. (I think the kind where you remove the old seat cover may be a good idea since the whole interior smelled bad.

I've seen lots of "generic" seat covers on eBay, but I would think it should be something specifically made for the MR2. Has anyone bought any that they love? I'd like to find something under $100 for cloth or vinyl or under $250 for leather if possible.

Also, I'm thinking of replacing all the carpet and the red cloth part of the door panels with black.

Any recommendations on where to get the carpets besides Toyota?

Thanks!

I can hook you up with some black vinyl, for the door panel. Let me know.

I think you'll have a very difficult time finding new cloth/vinyl covers for <$100 or leather covers for <$250 that are made specifically for our car.

Several forum members have used the CoverKing Neoprene seat covers made specifically for our car.. with good results. Costco.com has a very good price on those -- $200 for the set.

I know several other members who've purchased synthetic leather (i.e., vinyl) or leather seat covers, which are made specifically for our car, to replace the existing fabric/leather from eBay with excellent results. From what I recall, professional installation for the synthetic leather/leather covers could cost about as much as, if not more than, you are looking to spend on the covers.

Given your price sensitivity, you might want to consider swapping the stock seats for a set used stock seats in better condition or generic 'racing' seats.

Over at mr2roc.org, our sister site in the UK, GSB has a nice "how-to," illustrating how to recover the seats in leather. I recommend leather.
To cover my hideous yellow OEM seats, I've got
MOMO seat covers - less than $20 each
Amazon.com,

http://www.amazon.com/Front-High-Tr...0ATO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1332099049&sr=8-2
Good deal. That's even cheaper than the generic seat covers at your national auto parts/service chain stores.
I was thinking about getting the CoverKing seat covers through COSTCO and then read the reviews through the COSTCO website

at http://www.costco.com/Browse/Produc...atchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1#BVRRWidgetID

That changed my mind. I'm still looking for viable options and will keep watching this thread. Anyone else got any ideas? I lookd at the imitation momo covers on Amazon, but it seems I can have any color combination I want as long as it is black and red. Is that correct?

Or you guys can just buy my professionally installed, brand name, perforated leather seat covers on stock seats with matching door panel leather. Black/red combo. Shipping would be a hassle but I would like to sell. Previous owner mentioned something about 700 or so for items and pro install, sheesh.

Heres a quick pic.

Pm me if anyone is interested.

700 is about what i was quoted to have this done to mine. labor is a big part of that. i'm still shopping around because i want to put a red top on it and make sure there is a good color match between the top/seats.
Yeah its an expensive project. Personally I'd just buy some good quality racing seats and call it a day.

For anyone interested in my set I'll take $350 +shipping.

Good luck on yours.
Oaklies, or something like that were custom made for my car and fit like a glove. Also you have your choice of color.
Hey Kaustein . . . did your seat covers fade in the sun? that seemd to be the biffest complaints I read about the CoverKing seat neoprene seat covers.

No fading. But then again I live upstate NY and the car is garaged in the winter. You have to take the seats out to fit them as they fit the seats like a glove. A little more comfort too.
Isn't there that import or Toyota only wrecking yard out there in Southern CA? Can't remember the damn name of it off hand.
All Japanese or something like that. I do have the phone number still.
