Hi
Can anyone help me?...My power steering seems to have gone a little odd. It feels slightly heavy but not like my P/S pump has gone. I had that replaced about a year ago. When i turn right the steering doesn't seem to fully spring back into place, i have to manually make sure that the steering wheel back otherwise i would just go round in a circle! I have pumped up all the tyres. I did however have a new tyre on the right side and the left needs changing because it is bald. However this problem did not occur straight after the tyre was changed. It has taken about 2 weeks for the problem to occur. I have been asked to check the P/S fluid and can only find that we need to use a specialist Toyota fluid, which is quite expensive. Does anyone know of a equivalent P/S fluid we can use? Do you think i should change the tyre first or buy the fluid? By the way, there is no P/S light on the dash...hope someone can help?...Thanks

power steering pump.

When you replaced your pump what kind of fluid did you install. A special power steering fluid is required for these pumps. (p/n 08886-01206 toyota power steering fluid EH) EH stands for electric hydraulic. I had to special order this fluid from my toyota dealership.

Another comment on this is that I tried to order some from a dealership online and they said they weren't allowed to ship the fluid. So you will probably have to go to your local dealer.
