You mean you don't have it over there?
I have it on my car (JDM) which was manufactured in Aug 2002. Just took it for granted. Thanks for giving me another reason to love my car more:)

+ve : 6 Sp MT, factory LSD option, non-cowboy hat logo, driver sits on the right side, gun-metal grey colour option; auto window up and down.....

-ve : Pocket Logger unreadable, power antena(no use to me), diapers don't come as stock, 180km/h speedometer and speed limit, no dash instrument light dimmer, no stock radio, Japanese manual.....

insignificant differences: emergency flare, Japanese worded labels/sticker....

Ha ha ha! [Does a little superiority dance.]

Sorry, but I needed to find SOMETHING on that list that makes Toyota USA look good.

I suspect we'll never see auto-up. The US is too litigious.

Yeah right. Try doing that to my stubborn 10 year old niece who thinks the coolest thing on earth is the way electric windows go up and down...

She'll eat you alive...

Hand slapping is not required with our brake system.

Willow, we only have auto-down for drivers side in US and Europe. (no auto either way for passenger side)

6Spd is stock here (since 2003)...I barely need the 5th and would probably need the 6th maybe once a month

LSD isn't an option, it's stock. $20 to get rid of the cowboyhat logo and $40 to get rid of the cowboylogos on wheels. (and $0 for the steering wheel badge, thanks (forgot your nick, sowwy)) And grey isn't for me...

Don't have pocket logger, never use the radio (got the power antenna as well) and don't have a radio stock either, took the diapers off, could live without the dimmer and manual...but I'd actually love to have a 180kmh speedo

Thanks for the idea

Do you have a part number for it or can you get it..?

Passenger side has no auto feature as well. The convenience of the auto up for me is that once I'm put in/take a ticket at the carpark barrier, I can put it on auto up and concentrate on driving up or down the spiral ramp, w/o need to divide my hand between holding it and changing gear.

Sometimes I rev from 1-2-3 then directly to 6th at expressway. 3rd gets me to my cruising speed and 6th to hold it there.

Why would you want a 180kmh speedo? I'll gladly change mine with yours if it is in kmh. We get our JDM 180kmh top speed de-limited but can't read the speed above it unless we install an additional digital speed gauge.

Hey folks, been lurking here for some time, but I thought I have some input on this.

As has been noted before, you can't just get driver's side parts and use it on the passenger side. Also, using the driver's side controller to control both windows won't work (and like in the rain in a drive-thru, there are times when you REALLY don't want both windows open).

If you are going to install controllers like the Autolocs mentioned in the Spydermagazine article, you should bypass the stock driver auto-down controls. Since they are both electronic, they could have issues with each other (just like someone already mentioned with their DEI setup). Basically, you just rewire the driver side so that it's the same as the passenger side. If the driver's side switch isn't compatible, just buy a passenger side switch and install it.

I had the Autoloc controllers in my MKII, and it is pretty easy to stop them part way. You do not lose any functionality with those controllers.

Most of those controllers will have two wires that will activate them up or down. You can hook these up to extended functions of an aftermarket alarm (as was mentioned with the DEI setup).

The original post was someone wanting to be able to just hit a button and have both windows go down or up. I had a four-door car that I installed window controllers on. With some diodes, I wired up a button that was hidden but easily accessible (it was hidden for appearances), and would close all of the windows at once. It made it a little easier just to pop that button when I was getting out to make sure all of the windows were closed. Something similar can be done if you install window controllers, and have a button to open both up at once.

With a controller like Autoloc, it will also be relatively straightforward to create a simple delay circuit that will automatically "vent" the windows. In other words, open the windows just an inch or so. This little circuit can be activated by a button installed in the car, or an alarm extension, or both. You could make one per side, or have a single circuit control both.

Guys, I am a bit confused about the speedo... The UK model has a dual speedo (compulsory since UK switched to metric) which goes up to 240kph.

Top speed is rated at 135mph - 210kph, although I have driven it at 140mph and still going. I reckon actual speed was 125-130mph (200-210kph)...

Most JDM cars are all self-limited at 180kmh by their manufacturers (The NSX is one of the exception IIRC). I think as an agreement to show civic-mindedness (and as a PR?). Just like how so many powerful Jap cars are officially (and politically) rated at exactly 280 bhp in Japan(when we know many are above that).

That is why JDMs have their speedo up to only 180kmh, and at stock, the engine will cut power when you hit about 185kmh. Many people I know de-limit that top speed electronically.

The Japanese don't even need 180 on public road. The drivers are so disciplined that I don't remember seeing any above their speed limit on deserted country roads in my 10 days self-drive there. In a autotrans Corolla, I overtook everyone and was never overtaken, except for a pair of RX-7 doing their "Gap" run on a stretch of mountain road.

Yeah, top speed is rated at 210kmh over here as well. You can get the speedo up to 240kmh, actually about the width of the needle above it, but I won't start a mess by saying how much that was according to GPS :

Willow, thanks for the offer, but I'm sure the faceplate is next to free from Toyota (assuming I can get just the face from them). Over here ppl have a weird habit of judging cars performance by the highest digit on the speedo, that's why I'd love to have a 180kmh speedo. Kinda like putting a 1.1l badge on the ass of a car with 2.0l engine
