well, it is time to take my entire car apart...including: sideskirts, front bumper, back bumper, front panals, and rear panals.

i figure i will put the whole job on here, from start to finish. ill take as many pics as i can along the way.

the reason for this is to have one place i can go to for any advise, or questions. i have done most of this before, but on wrecked spyders that i could just bend or cut things that were in my way. i cant do this now, so i may run into some things, i dont know.

plus, i will give some people something else to follow....lol.

here are a couple of pics i took, i guess i will just add all pics to this first post to keep them all together.

here is the kit after i got it off...still looks great!

from the front

and the rear

i figure i will point out how i took everything apart...help people in the future....

headlights removal..

two bolts in the top
Image

one bolt on the bottom back side
Image

then it is just a clip, pull forward and it will pop out.
Image

fender removal..all bolts are 10mm

bolt in front corner
Image

open door and there is another bolt at top
Image

under the plastic around bottom of windshild there is a bolt..plastic clip holds the plastic piece down
Image

under the car, by the tire, there are two bolts
Image

take the wheelwell plastic out by taking plastic clips out.
then you will see another plastic piece if you look inside the fender at the door. one plastic clip holds it in...take the plastic piece out, and you will see a bolt behind there.

Image

Image

Image

then there is one last bolt in the front corner
Image

you can take these out in any order you want

then you have this

i will have to add pics to this post because it said i had to many pics in the top one

NOW FOR THE REAR FENDERS
two bolts when you open the door
Image

one bolt hid under the rubber at the top of the door..little rubber tabs hold it on..just give it a little tug and they will come out.
Image

three bolts under the car
Image

Image

two bolts un the engine bay
Image

two bolts on the back corner under the bumper
Image

take the liner out by just removing all plastic clips
then take the bolt out of the brace facing the front of the car on the inside of the fender
Image

then the gas tank has 3 screw to remove
Image

then look on the backside of the gas tank and unhook the wire by just twisting it off
Image

then pull the plastic piece out
Image

then take the bolt out that is the covor for the hardtop piece
Image

take it off, and there will be another bolt under there to remove
Image

NOW, this is the part where you can do 1 of 2 things. take the softtop off, and remove the two bolts on the bracket that the fender is spot welded to, or do what i did and just drill out the welds. there are three of them (easy to drill out, but dont let the drill go through to far or it will hit the top "diaper" under it.
Image

here are the two bolts that hold the brace (just incase someone wants to see them)
Image

and then you have this...

i like the apr way better than any of the others, but i just did not want to do all the work that it needs. oh well, looks like i will do it now...lol. i hate the Reckless kit, i would not put it on my car if someone gave it to me lol.

so far, i have the whole kit off, and two fenders. two back fenders to go! then it is off to the west.

then i have to pull my motor...build it...change the coilovers...fix the apr kit to perfection...install hardtop...and paint the whole car. i think i will stick with red paint, but i have a little something extra in mind!!

oh ya, i am very happy to be home!!!

An All Satin Black widebody MR-S would be the hottest thing on here. If you had a K20 of course

well put! no one seems to understand- infact they yell at me at work for doing what i do on the week ends- its just ignorance.

And of course everyone thinks THEIR car is the best...

Good work Paul - I can see this turning into a thread I bookmark for the pictures alone
Image
(Especially all the removal instructions!)

Turning wrenches - better still turning wrenches with good friends - is the best fun a man can have, I swear. (Ok, maybe I need to get laid..)

Have fun
