Hey guys, I am not a newbie on here by any means I've owned a 2002 red smt and a 2002 black smt and used to post on here way back when, my black one had a APR widebody kit and painted it a dark porsche blue....

Anyhow it's come time to seek a new car and I've been searching high an low for a 03-05 SMT spyder with decent miles, there is one in SD with 57k miles for $12,300, black with black leather. I deff. want a newer model since I've had 2 older ones...which my red one was brand new and the black one I bought in 05 with 6k miles on it....I dont really want to buy a car with 57k miles on it....so I might just wait and keep an eye out....I was thinking about going with a 05 audi tt instead...there are 2 in my area around 20k one with 19,000 miles and the other with 47,000 miles, both certified audi cars with a nice warranty, both have black leather and that little 2.0 turbo motor which is a measely 180HP....This might sound lame but I kinda like the TT's mini me back seat...most people might think it's a joke but My 2 Mini schnauzer's might be calling it home...lol What do you guys think? My friends aren't car guys so anyone's thought's would be appreciated...

Oh and to briefly cover my situation it would be a everyday car, I have no kids, 29 years old 6'1 and my price range for the car is anywhere from 13k to 25k

Thanks!

TT's are fun to drive and it sounds like you only keep a car for a short time. The Spyder is more reliable but if you get the Audi with a bumper to bumper warranty then its good for the winter and then buy a spyder for next summer. Audi's do have electrical gremlins:huh:
Good luck

Meh....I dont want a 4 door car that's for sure...
Z4's are cool but just kinda weird looking to me...Like the front is sooo long it just looks odd...and their interior is super bland...Lotus I'd have to get a old one an that's ok.... I really Like the new Audi tt's but they are so damn expensive...even used models are all over 32k for 2007 an 08's

Honest to god reason for wanting a MR2 again is just I simply really liked the car....and I'd save alot of money...lol

My uncle has a TT but the verts don't have the back seat that's for the coupes only. If you're looking at coupes I'd look at the Z4 coupe which looks amazing. In the end though I have to ask why did you sell 2 spyders if you still wanted to drive one?

Because I'm one of those guys that has had 9 cars in 9 years of driving....lol, my next car I want to keep around for ever though so it has to be a good choice....

And to that SMT comment....I love that trans man..don't knock it

Best SMT trans story ever....I get a jamba juice I'm cruising over to my best friends house...reach over to put the jamba cup in the cup holder and hit the center of the bottom of the cup dead on to chrome ball shifter and a lava like flow comes out into all over my smt.....lol beat that one

Ha ha fair enough I suppose. You really just have to drive both these cars and get the feel. I like the extra power of my uncle's TT vert, but I'd never trade, it had good feel, but I'm just not a fan of the AWD I really enjoy the ability to break the rear loose. I'd certainly never get the coupe for the sake of the back seats, I'd just hate to loose the top down freedom. Until you drive both though its impossible to say what you'd enjoy.

I also don't trust VW/Audi reliability in the slightest, people always say its gotten better but they took way too long to fix those issues, and the 2.0T hasn't been out long enough to make a judgment call in my opinion. After watching numerous 1.8t's die I just knew I could never trust that company.

25K = ELISE!

I don't know how it is as a daily driver, but man, that is one FINE driving car. I should've bought one but it cost 5 times the cheapo MRS that I picked up.
I do and I found it too harsh for DD duty (2hrs of driving a day). The MRS was fun and handled the drive great. The MKII (NA) was great ride wise but T-Tops suck so I missed the MRS & Elise conv top. MRS top was the best though.

I needed a back seat since we're expecting another baby, so I just bought a new STi. But if I didn't need back seats, for $25k, I'd be looking at a Boxster S.

I can think of 1000 reasons to not pick the TT... the extra 1000 pounds that car carries around... sure the Volkswagen Golf (Audi TT) is a decent car--but good-looking sheet metal isn't going to change the torsion-bar rear suspension, and the fact that it handles like a Chevy Impala...

Sorry, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong:)

P.S. Both the engine and the drive wheels are on the wrong end:)

What are you looking for in a car, as in what made the choice come down to a TT or Spyder? I really like the new TT bodystyle, as i linked, and the annoying issues with the electrics aren't as big an issue in the new ones, i had an 05 GTI (same thing as an 05 TT basically) and had a lot of issues which is why i say go with the new generation.

I love the way the mr2 feels driving it, I love the gas millage, and I like the way it looks and it's not expensive at all.... I'm just not sure I want to drop all sorts of money on a car....I love the way the Audi looks, never driven the new model but with them cutting the weight down and adding power to the 2.0 I'm sure it's awesome to drive....It just depends on what is available and how much I am will to spend...I own a small business and with this economy I might be better off getting a spyder...paying it off over the next 10-12 months and then fiancing a TT right after... that might be the smarter thing to do....damn this economy! I have seriously made 1/2 of what My biz pulled in last year....Oh well though...life is still good!
