It's an extremely cheaper solution for standalone, yet nobody uses this on spyderchat?
PFC costs 800+.
If you buy unassembled megasquirt 2 v3, it's 250.

Been there done that, the mega is really hard to tune right. You will enjoy more your car with a PFC ;)

Why don't you be the first and then tell us about it.

It seems like it does nothing more then what you get out of a Camcon unit and it doesn't seem like a stand alone where it completly replaces the ECU allowing the AC and all of the other CAN bus systems to integrate. The PFC will do far more then that some assembly required device.

Remember you will lose vvti control so there goes 15 whp, also my first blown motor in the spyder was with a mega:ukliam2:. You choose. :eusa_wall:

I assembled, installed and tuned a MS2 V3 in a 4age 20V with ITBs and vvt.
You can make it work in the MR-S. You need a daughter board to control vvti etc. Its a lot of work to integrate it in a street car with all accessories working. But if you're planning to use it just to control the engine for track/race its easy as pie. MS is better than the PFC in a lot of ways.

I have nothing valuable to add either... I was one of the idiots that bought a PFC... but I am seriously considering going to Golden Shower for engine management...

I built a couple of MSs a few years ago, played around a bit with 'em on the 3SGTE.
The good: Open Source (well, sort of, you're allowed to change it but B&G own it and your changes, and it's only licensed to run on B&G hardware).
The bad: Open Source. Developed by committee.

I haven't played with their MSIII hardware, so I can't comment. But at the end of the day, my opinion is it's for those who want a hobby or otherwise value their time less than their cash.

Then again, my opinion of the PFC is it's an out-of-date low-end EMS that is packaged very well. It's easy, it owns 99+% of the 1ZZ/2ZZ Toyota market. There are more capable systems for what is now several hundreds of dollars less. Packaging them up nice and tidy like the PFC is a time-consuming and expensive proposition, and probably not worth it.

If you want to look at an MS competitor, check out DIYefi.org. Open source software and hardware.
