Sounds like you wired the PPE harness O2 loop backwards.

If the CEL is a PO135/155 you need to study the picture that came from PPE.

Its just a .10 cent 30watt 10amp axial resistor.

 

How exactly is it supposed to go? I might actually have it backwards too. Thats funny because something so simple could have been my problem all this time.


Currently I am running the short one (the plug halfway up the wire) on the right side and the other on the left. Hmmm... I think tomorrow afternoon (after work ugh) I'll swap them and see whats up.

 

Its been years since I had that setup but iif you soldered it in you'll have to undo the solder on the O2 sensor and resplice.

 

GOod news. im just a retard, and didn't have the bolts between the downpipe and the exhaust set well. THe bolts i used weren't threaded low enough to make a good seal on the gasket (so when they were tightened all the way, they didn't close the gap). It is now loud, but sounds more like a racecar than a ricecar.


Also, due to my retardedness, the harness was done using the clips that came with the kit. I ended up ripping all that shit apart, and re-did it with better crimp clips, and some electical tape + better insulation(round black tube. i got it from a neighbor who helped me fix my horrible car modding job). I am ashamed to have not been able to do this the first time, but it is my first time doing a header swap, and my tools/resources weren't there. Praise the lord for old mechanic's like my neighbor who help 20 year olds like me.


on the plus side, now it is throaty, loud, and is ready for some faster straight line driving. I want to get it on a dyno and see if i have at least 135 wheel horsepower all together. I am going to the track in a week and racing my friends trans am. Im prepared to loose--and get a timeslip.

Post dyno results / plots when you get them. I just installed PPE header and high flow cat with a Che exhaust. Result was 157 flywheel bhp, so around 127 / 130 wheel bhp. Got a Unichip being programmed up next week.

My car was really much louder in the car than I expected to start with. Tunred out I had a loose heatshield (the big one seperating the muffler from the rear bumber). This was acting as a sounding board and really amplifying the sound to the body of the car. Now it is tightened the whole lot sounds crisp and sharp, with no boominess in the car.
