If that was true I would like to see the thick deck varnish on the internals.

wow.. I'll change every 5000 miles for normal daily use. I'm currently using Shell Helix 5W-40.. this oil is good. it got much smoother at the low-mid rpm.

And the "good" performance can last for 3K miles than the engine started become a very very little bit noisier than just changed the oil.

Mobil 1 0-40 ( 0-40 because I have access to it cheaply)
K&N oil filter.

Something to think about. Porsche recomends Mobil1 0-40 every 7,500 miles or annually. Filter change is recomended every OTHER YEAR, or 15,000 MILES. And the germans are obsessive about maintenance.

From the "bob the oil guy website" it looks like K&N and Mobil 1 filters both consistently rate well. Don't know where to buy the mobil 1 filter, but pepboys had the k&n.

Where are you guys buying the mobil 1 filter? How much?

For years I've always used Hastings filters. For every car!

1zz # is LF410. www.synlubes.com get them there.

I still think there is too much misconception about oil and what certain manufactures recommend for their cars are different then what is recommended for ours. You cant just change to thick oil on a hunch.

The Porsche uses a wet sump and its oil capacity is double or more what ours is and it can sit longer in the engine because it can buffer acids longer.

Our cars should be run on 30 wt for optimal benefit and if your are using a synthetic then you shouldn’t have to use a thinker oil ever because the protection is over kill.

K/N oil filters are better then Mobil One oil filters in that it flows better and that’s more important.

k&n is no more expensive than toyota.....i think i pay ~ $3-5 for a k&n filter......

besides, there's no point in making one trip to advance for oil and another trip to the dealer for filters........

Mobil1 10-30W & a Mobil1 filter.
I started with synth oil on my first oil change & never looked back. I did a great deal of research & I used to work in the field. There are almost as many myths in that field as audio…I use the 10-30W because the pour on synth is very good & I do not run my Spyder in the winter. If I lived further North, I would stick to 5-30W. My engine runs very well on the 10-30W.

Mobil1 @ Mal-Wart for $19.95 for five quarts.
Mobil 1 M103 filter @ Autozone for around $10.

Mobil1 filters are manufactured by a reputable firm that OEMs filters & makes high end filters for a few of the better labels. Dev, what info do you have about the K/N filters flow rate as opposed to Mobil1? I am interested.
The Mobil1 filters are designed to allow a certain percentage of particles to go by. They have their reasons, and it makes sense to me when you look at the big picture.

Actually I should apologize and say in my opinion based on my information on bobistheoilguy.

This is a quote from bobistheoilguy.com
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
We have a few people working on a new project. Many have seen the filter report where someone has opened up filters and did a basic full flow filter construction overview. As interesting as this has been, and as much as this report has flown around the internet, some of the board members have decided to go a step further. We have learned through testing that full flow filtration is important but... it is second to flow rates when it comes to wear protection. That being said, These guys are designing a rig that will allow a way to measure basic flow rates on different filters. After going through this, they will develop a report on their findings using basic OTC filters bought around local shops. This IMO, is going to be very interesting and will take some time to do, but again, people from all over are pitching in and it looks like it's already starting. So, keep a watch as we get this test going and like us, learn what the real deal is on full flow filters and how it affects oil flow and wear.[/b]
Mobil 1 is a good filter but if there is any truth to the testing I would go K&N as there is not much difference in price.

Here is the testing, I haven’t visited the filter tests in some time so thanks for bringing it up and I think if you love lubrication like me then you will find it a good read. Enjoy.
