1ZZ-FED from SMT to Automatic Transmission

I have learnt that MR2 spyder runs under the 1ZZ-FED engine. There is a few models running under this engine such as:
Toyota Celica GT
Toyota MR2 Spyder
Toyota Wish 1.8
Toyota WiLL vs 1.8

Currently I have problems with my SMT, I was wondering whether is it possible to modify an AUTOMATIC transmission into my spyder with the use of the parts of either one of the models I have listed.

Furthermore, one of my local owner of MR2 spyder successfully swapped from 1ZZ-FED manual to NA 2.0L 3S-GE. It is running under manual transmission now.

So i was thinking is it possible if my spyder to get a swap for a NA 2.0L 3S-GE but in an AUTOMATIC transmission?

Changing my transmission to manual will be the last choice i would make and I really do hope that day will never come.
Expertise please help. Your information are much appreciated.

OOOohhh The Natives are restless.. Tromping on the Sacred Spyder is He?

Never herd of an Automatic in the Spyder.. Could be Done..

Sounds like your form 'Not the US'.. So I can not tell what donor cars you might have avalable to you..

But a Automatic Celica, 1ZZ would be a good Choice.. ( If there is a Good Choice for an Automatic in a Spyder.. Yes I have to get my Licks in too! )..

If you are Replacing the Transmission, and trying to keep a Sporty Car Still.. I'd Go After a 2ZZ Celica with Automatic.. and take the ENTIRE Drive Line..

If you go 2ZZ Engine AND Automatic from a Celica ( Or it's variant ).. use the '00-01 Model year for Various Reasions.. and I'm Thinking it will all fit and run.. Need all the Electronics for the Engine Computer, and the Trans Electrical Plugs..

If you use the Celica as the Donor Car.. the Celica ECU will be 'More Compatable' with the Spyder Electrical System, and be 'Somewhat' Plug and Play..

You'll be On your Own for the Shift Stuff.. as I havent Got a CLUE as to how all that is Done..

Answer: Automatic transmission.

Question: What do I do when I am too lazy to flick that little SMT lever or push a button on the steering wheel?

Jeebus man, they made these SMT things for folks like you who just don't get a proper transmission. You just have two pedals and a lever to worry about... If you can't master that, then perhaps you should take the bus...

toyota designed the ZZW30 without an automatic option on purpose.

if he wants an A/T, he should buy a celica.

This reminds me of when Kobe Bryant bought a Murcielago for his wife a couple of years ago and then had it converted into an automatic transmission by the factory. The only one in existance with an automatic transmission.

You have issues with the SMT. Go figure! If you have a physical limitation that prevents you from driving a manual, go for it. It can be done. If not and you simply want to rid yourself of the SMT, it will be easier to convert to a MT. It's been done and there are write-ups available.
