I'm kinda bummed I didn't get this done for the Dragon Meet . I think I missed two completion dates .... maybe next month . I've been working on some loose ends you really don't think about when you think swap . Still looking / waiting on fittings and what not to finish up :

airbox
gas line
clutch line
midpipe

Then it will be time to dive into the wiring which I've been putting off ....

I did get my new tires mounted on the wheels , took them to Discount tires direct and they wouldn't mount my 205 on a 8" wide wheel . They said it wasn't safe ,they said 7.5 was widest they would do, glad they're watching out for me . So I took them to a Napa service center , they didn't care and did what I ask .

I'm still debating If I should just pony up the $1000 for a replacement used 2zz (+$500 for a proper oil pan), and maybe add some cams while I'm at it, or go through with $5k or so for the 2ar swap.

Every bodies situation is different but if you can wait for some reviews on the 2ar I would . I hope to have mine finished this month and I think there are a few in the works but have no idea about they're completion date .

I'm not crazy about 2zz's so my opinion is some what tainted . But if I did the 2zz route I wouldn't mess with the cams and I would invest in the oil pan .

And of course there's the option of just throwing a cheap 1zz in till you decide what you want to do . I have the 1zz I took out for the 2ar I'd let go cheap .... probably $250 plus shipping , it ran fine 93k , maybe .5 quart in 3k miles , out of a 2000 spyder .

Finally an update ....

Been working on my battery mount , pretty happy with it so far . The final mount will probably be made of aluminum although this one is pretty lite . Used the existing tapped holes in the crossmember which made the design a little more of a challenge but makes install much easier . Next time I'll cut my cutouts before I bend it up .

Airbox mount ...... bolts to the left trans mount with two extincting threaded holes .

Uses the oem rubber grommets in the bottom of the box ...

On stock box the air intake is on the right so I cut it out and moved it to the left pointing toward the side vent . Used fiberglass to fill the hole and to reattach the tube .

Image

I used the tube that runs down the qrt. panel , work well , it's rigid but pliable .

This what it looks like mounted . The only con is you have to take the whole box out to change the filter . It fits to tight to use the hinged top . I will probably make a little heat shield on the engine side , also would make a great place for the ecu .... if the wiring works out .

Looks good, I like that it gets to breathe fresh clean outside air.
Thanks ... that went much easier than I thought it would .

I know the cone filter you're using has a lot more surface area , do you think mine is going to suck that much less air. Also what's the purpose of the tube in the airbox sticking in so far ?

I suspect it will cost you some power but i don't have a good idea at how much. The MAF sample tube reaches into the airbox probably just to keep everything compact while keeping the length as long as possible but i don't have a solid answer.

I started my exhaust , I was going to the scion oem midpipe but it's only 2" od . It fit pretty good but needed a few adjustments so decided to start from scratch .

Here's the oem , even had a little heat shield by the trans mount , I don't think I need the o2 sensor either .

Looks nice and clean. The trans mount shield is not a bad plan but for what it's worth i haven't had any issues with heat there on the race car. there's just so much airflow in that area when it runs.
Thanks .... short and sweet and probably loud .

There's probably 1.5" between the mount and the pipe so I'm not to worried but will probably make a shield .

Glad to see you're making some headway on the wiring , I didn't grasp all of it but carry on .....
