Help: Car Won't Start!!!

I need your help!

I parked Charlotte (2003 MR2, 30k miles) about a month and a half ago. A couple days ago I went to start her up for a bit and nothing. No clicking, no turnover, and not even interior lights.

I hooked Charlotte up to a battery charger overnight. No lights, won't start. Tried the "START" setting on the charger. Nothing.

The battery cables are connected. Everything inside looks normal to me, understanding that I would only recognize it as not good if it were obvious. The battery is good... there was spark as I adjusted the terminals, so the charger was working and all.

When I parked her, in a garage, she was at exactly 30k miles and everything seemed to be working fine.

What could be the problem???

Just a guess, but if there's nothing working, - the fusible link?[/b]
Maybe I should be more specific... What could be the problem and how do I fix it?
[/b][/quote]
Maybe I should be more specific... No regular battery can sit connected to a car for 6 weeks and not die. Recharging does not bring batteries from dead. Go and get a new battery and only if that does not work start scratching the collective heads.

Waitasec.. I accidentally drained my battery by leaving the interior light on for a week. I then jumpstarted it and it works. I do notice though that it does not have the same amount of juice in it any more, even when fully charged.

So I need to replace this now?

It shortened the life but replace it automatically because it was drained ? Heck no. My T-100 got drained 2 years ago and it still starts up fine. It also sits around for weeks at a time so it's not like it's a well maintained battery either. Add on top of that it's probably 5+ years old.

It all depends on what happened with a battery (whether it is smaller issue within cell(s), or one or more cells died period) and how much of power it now has vs. how much power is minimum needed for start. As it obviously doesn't have same juice as before it obviously did suffer some damage. As it is obviously starting it obviously did not suffer enough damage and you obviously lucked out. His is obviously dead, period.

Even if the battery was dead totally, though, shouldn't the lights have at least tried to go on (a little flicker or a dim or something on the dome light?) when the charger/starter was on and in it's START mode?

If the charger wasn't making good contact to the battery it won't charge. Sometimes you have to wiggle the clamps for a better contact to be made. Try taking a one or two foot wire and hold one end on one terminal and do a quick scratch on the other terminal. If no spark the battery has no charge. Don't hold both ends on the terminals, just swipe it across one and hold the other end on the other terminal. It would be best to unhook the battery cables before doing this so nothing gets a surge.

Does it matter? It's pointless and counterproductive continuing to debate while that battery is still in. Go and change that battery. Only if that doesn't help come back for next round.

Okay, fine... replaced the battery and boom! started right up.

The battery was beyond dead according to the Batteries+ guy.

Anyway, I also realized that the battery was - I hadn't thought of this - "original equipment" and stamped April 2003 IIRC.

So yeah, it runs now. dman™™™, I probably have to reset my radio stations now too.
