Hello,
New to the forum and MR2. Not to Toyota though owned Supras. Celicas and trucks.
I have a 2000 MR2 Spyder I picked up at auction (been looking for awhile) So I have no history other than it was a charity vehicle. Car is unmolested all original with 180,000 on it. The battery in the car was completely dead when I got it. The auction lot jumped it and I drove it home like that.
P/S light has been on and no power steering from the first time I inspected it. I inspected the pump assembly and it appears brand new, no build up on it and fluid is to level and very, very clean. I ran the scanner and it is throwing a C1523/23 also C1553/53. I know what the codes say but have no idea why it would over current. Could the C1553 be from the battery being toast?
I checked the relay, the fuses, the connectors, ohms check on the motor all looks good.
I left P8 unplugged accidentally and the motor pulsed on then off and sounded fine when it was running.
Thanks for any help, really looking forward to my new toy
