While you're at it, why not remove BOTH wipers and we can read about it in the next edition of the Darwin Awards.[/b]
But I rain-x my windshield every other week.

I'm just kidding and this should be taken as a joke.

I would strongly recommend NOT buying the Storm single wiper kit (UK Ebay), it's a pile of crap.
- Unless you want to buy the one that I bought!

The instructions were for some other car, although it said MR2 mk3 on them, a bit that should have been thread-locked wasn't, the spindle was longer than OE and it made a clunking noise.

I've now made my own.

Safety issue? Pah!

I've had three cars with (OE) single wipers and two I've converted, no problems what-so-ever.

If anyone wants pic.s or how-tos, let me know.

Hi,

I'm the UK member thats got this conversion.
It was the 'Storm' version and I had no problems fitting it (except for a few scraped knuckles!)
You kee the existing wiper motor and just replace the attached motorbar with a shorter one and add a longer wiper arm.
The longer wiper blade can be set in any position you want - I reccommend the drivers side so that water doesn't 'blow' up the windscreen as you are going along.
I have had no visibility or rain clearing problems since being fitted last year - and as you know we get quite alot of rain over the pond!

Mel.

The McLaren F1 has just one blade and as seen here it is bent with the wiper assembly (to fit the curve of the hood). You may have to angle yours to get a good sweep.

Just to add. You forgot to mention that the McLaren F1 has only one seat up front, positioned in the center of the car, uuummmm, much like a F1 car.

Doesn't the Elise have this as well? They cut everything they can with that car, taking away things that weigh a small percentage of an ounce. It does all add up, but there's no way I would do this. I complain now because I can't get my two wiper blades to go fast enough for my tastes.

You also shouldn't be driving you Elise in the rain though.

If I had an Elise I would drive it in every condition as my spyder, which includes downpours, fog and sunshine.

Dose anybody really leave the wipers in the middle of a wipe and turn the car off? If the wiper was down it wouldn't look so stupid.

Actually a few super cars are set up that way. They leave it in the up position so that it catches less wind.[/b]
Yep, and if anyone assembles a Spyder that will crack 200 mph I will fly to their home and install the single wiper mod for them. :icon_thumright:
