I know ppl have shaded their amber turn lights a silver/chrome/whatever color, but, would white work as long as you use a light enough coat of paint?

I think they just buy different bulbs, they don't paint them. Phillips makes some nice bulbs that fit for the turn signals that are chrome colored when off.

oh, i think i read something about ppl painting them.... i guess buying them would be much easier though. Either way, would painting them work? i guess i could just buy new bulbs if painting ends up goin' bad.

I wouldn't reccomend painting them, just because I don't think the outcome would come out very well. Just spend the $10 for new bulbs and be done with it.

i might if i can get them in white, im gonna have to do paint work inside the headlights neways, so, ill just use what i have left and see if i cant get the turn signals to be white too, i mean as long as im spending the money on the extra bulbs...

I'm not even sure if anyone knows why silver paint works. I doubt that white paint will, but you never know. I just haven't heard of anyone trying it.

yeah, i never understood why everyone got silver ones, but hey, ill give it a try and post pics, whenever i get my car back from carmax.... its been a week now.

Umm... unless someone makes a paint for the specific purpose of making your clear bulbs NON amber and making them SHINE amber, then don't paint them!!!! Most paints are made for opaque coverage. If it's not made for opaque coverage then it's not made for a high heat application. If you want bulbs that shine in an amber color but don't appear amber in color for the use in clear lens applications, then get this:

Okay?

If you are enough of a fanatic to do this mod, I really can't understand why you'd balk at getting the correct lights to go with it. The Provarg or Sylvania's are both OEM quality and give the right look. Buying amber bulbs and spraypainting them is a ghetto move that's an insult to everyone, everywhere.

A light coat of silver spray on the bulb does work, don't ask me why. It's not a better idea than just buying the right bulbs of course.

Yeah, they put a light coat of silver over an already amber bulb... but why make it darker? Ya know? You're exactly right, not a better idea than getting something designed for that purpose, that's NOT much more expensive than getting amber bulbs and some high temp silver paint, and takes less time!

I didnt know they made bulbs that looked clear and shined amber SE, sorry. I will definitely get those bulbs then and not spraypaint the old ones white. Thanks for the link 3FO5Q.
