well, it is time to take my entire car apart...including: sideskirts, front bumper, back bumper, front panals, and rear panals.

i figure i will put the whole job on here, from start to finish. ill take as many pics as i can along the way.

the reason for this is to have one place i can go to for any advise, or questions. i have done most of this before, but on wrecked spyders that i could just bend or cut things that were in my way. i cant do this now, so i may run into some things, i dont know.

plus, i will give some people something else to follow....lol.

here are a couple of pics i took, i guess i will just add all pics to this first post to keep them all together.

here is the kit after i got it off...still looks great!

and the rear

i figure i will point out how i took everything apart...help people in the future....

headlights removal..

two bolts in the top
Image

one bolt on the bottom back side
Image

then it is just a clip, pull forward and it will pop out.
Image

fender removal..all bolts are 10mm

bolt in front corner
Image

open door and there is another bolt at top
Image

under the plastic around bottom of windshild there is a bolt..plastic clip holds the plastic piece down
Image

under the car, by the tire, there are two bolts
Image

take the wheelwell plastic out by taking plastic clips out.
then you will see another plastic piece if you look inside the fender at the door. one plastic clip holds it in...take the plastic piece out, and you will see a bolt behind there.

Image

Image

then there is one last bolt in the front corner
Image

you can take these out in any order you want

then you have this

First time I check your car...
all I can say is:
WOW!..

I usually don't like body kits.
but damn.. your car looks GOOD! really good in everyway! looks amazingly good and really clean. can see that a lot of work and passion went into that car.
..

wait I can say something else other than "WOW!"
..
how about:
Awesome!
or..

Legend... (wait for it)... DARY!

love it!

there was alot that went into this car (you are right).

alot of bad words, thrown tools, bad moods, thoughts of lighting it on fire....etc,etc.[/b]
LOL. Sounds like a lot of my simpler household repair jobs. Sometimes when I finish a task my wife asks if it went okay? I say "Sure. Why do you ask?"

"Well, I didn't hear any cursing."

you need a custom badge if your getting one,i take it the bumper you have now has no plug holes,id talk to larry to create a custom badge with just an adhesive backing[like the rears] .i wouldnt drill holes in the front bumper, just to house a badge.but try the adhesive backing first if you go that route.

Do like Jay said But cut the little tabby things off of your badge. That way you don't have to put holes in your bumper.[/b]
agreed +1.chop em off.dont drill.

only drilling to be done is on your offshore rig.lol.

id wanted to go rigging too,but i need a a trade.
is drinking whiskey a trade? lol.

anyway NO DRILLING that bumper ok.!!

chop the prongs off or talk to larry.

Drill it like a sailor on shore leave. Cuts weight.[/b]
But that weight is added again by the pegs on the badge.

Would a sailor really only hit it twice? I'm saying swiss cheese that motherbanmeplease™er

it was fun though

Glad I'm not the only one who has gotten so pissed at their spyder to throw a tool... Funny though, no matter how pissed I get I always say "dman™™™ that was fun" at the end.

Oh and just leave the badge off paul. It doesn't need it.

#670 ·
yall are crazy!

the tabs are already off my badge, all i used before was tape, the trial bumper i had did not have hole either.

and d.d., yes, my neighbor mows his grass sometimes and hits my tools that i tossed and landed in his yard. he would be mad, but i told him if he would mow his damn grass more, i would be able to find my stuff.

#672 ·
oh ya, i almost forgot,

i got my hotdog (or harddog i cant remember the name), rollbar on order!!! should get mailed out on the 15th of may!!!!!!!

btw, thanks to 3mr2s to bringing this to us, and putting up with us/me, and taking all the pictures!

Damn, I go away for a few days (well, a week) and this thread gains a dozen pages
Image

Looks good, Paul, real good
Image

I was going to say you should maybe talk to Rhon over on ROC as she can re-cover Mk1 and Mk2 steering wheels in any colour, so I'm sure she could do Mk3 as well.. but I see you've already bought an aftermarket wheel so, d'oh
Image

#674 ·
ya, i like the wheel cover, but when my buddy said "you wont be happy with that for long", it made me think..."paul, this just aint how you roll", so i bought something a little more my style
Image
.

but, the wheelskins cover is a really nice one!

btw, ill just use this post to tell the ones that wanted to see the back of my car...there is a pic of it on pg. 25. it pretty much looks the same, but now it has two pipes sticking out the back with no tips on it. nothing real special about the pipes or their location...just looks like duel exhaust. and the back (since i got rid of those ugly vent things), looks like a wide factory 03 bumper to me.

ill have my tips welded on when i get home, and then i will take some pics of it.
